12:55, 10 July 2019
The final days of 2019's Deal Festival continue with even more spectacular events.
Tomorrow (Thursday) sees another History Project walk from 10.30am at Deal Pier and visitors can visit an exhibition of performance photography by Deal photographer Tony Nandi from now until Saturday at Linden Hall Studio in St George's Road.
It is followed by A Shepherd and Two Trout coffee concert of the Cambini Ensemble at 11am at St Andrew's and for film buffs, one of the silent era’s greatest and most influential masterpieces Nosferatu at 7.30pm at the Astor Theatre.
Friday brings two intimate and interactive shows for early years children and their families at St George’s Hall at both 11.45am and 1.30pm.
Set within a campsite and inspired by life within the womb, this immersive show is performed in and outside of a tent.
Deal Castle will be host to Bach to the Future when two of DMA Education Projects will work together to create a chain of music and movement through its mysterious spaces and chambers. The music of Bach in orchestration by Joe Parks is juxtaposed against Lutoslawski’s dynamic Chian Dancers from Goodwin Academy. Performances and free and are at 2.15 and 3.30pm (entry to the Castle for this event will be free).
On Saturday, the ORA Singers will be at St Mary’s Art Centre in Sandwich.
The programme is inspired by Rome’s rich catalogue of Renaissance composers. ORA Singers continues the centuries-long living tradition of choral singing in Britain, which dates back centuries. The group is recognised for its modern approach and is one of the world’s foremost commissioners of contemporary choral music, which it performs alongside Renaissance masterpieces in its celebrated concerts and recordings.
Directed by Suzi Digby OBE, the group has been named Ensemble of the Year at the 2018 Opus Klassik awards.
The festival will be brought to a close by the Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos, which marks the pinnacle of baroque orchestral writing. The six concertos will be performed on period instruments by one of the leading early music ensembles in the world, Florilegium conducted by Ashley Solomen. This is at 7.30pm at St George's Church.
