Deal Town are in their 'best financial position for a long time'

As Deal Town prepare for the new season, officials at the Charles Ground say the club’s finances are in their healthiest state for several years.
And much of that is down to the success of the ‘Deal Town For Sale For £250’ promotion which has been running since April and has already boosted the club’s coffers to the tune of £5,500.
Bob Chivington, the club’s vice-chairman, said: "I have been involved with Deal Town for the best part of 10 years and the club is now in its best financial position for a long time. It’s been achieved by a lot of hard work because we haven’t got a main sponsor.
"We held a very successful Fun Day at the ground last month, which attracted thousands of people, and I have also been delighted by the response to the ‘Deal Town For Sale For £250’ promotion.
"Twenty-two local businesses or individuals have already signed up for it, which I think is fantastic considering the current economic climate and I would like to thank them all."
Under the scheme, businesses or individuals make a donation to the club of £250 and in return receive for the whole of next season an advertising board at the ground, a half-page advert in the matchday programme and the club’s monthly fanzine, a mention on a recorded CD pre-match and at half-time at all of Deal’s home games and a season ticket for two which includes hospitality.
In addition, everyone who supports the promotion will be entered into a prize draw, which is taking place in the clubhouse on Saturday at 7.30pm, and the winner will have their business logo carried on Deal’s shirts next season and the Charles Ground re-named after their business name.
If an individual wins, he or she can choose to have the name of their favourite charity printed on the shirts.
Anyone who would like to take part in the promotion should ring Mr Chivington before Saturday evening on 01304 368379 or 07854 529118.
