Hours of heavy rain fall during Wednesday night's storms caused chaos on some of Deal's roads and in homes.
Kent Fire and Rescue received six calls to flooding in Albert Road, London Road, Deal and The Street, Woodnesborough, but did not attend because there was no threat to life.
This picture, posted on Facebook by photographer David Christie of Crystal Memories Photography, shows Albert Road under almost a foot of water.
By this morning it had receded and traffic was flowing freely.
But Katie Monks and Sam Martin started their clear-up operation after their carpet was saturated with foul water from the sewars.
Mum of two Katie said: "The carpet and laminate are ruined. I had to mop with bleach as soon as I got up.
"We can't cook in there. We will have to live upstairs for the next few days."
A fallen tree blocked Kingsdown Road, but motorists were able to pass on Thursday morning.
