An audience of 215 enjoyed an evening of entertainment with Richard Digance at Dover Town Hall on Saturday, September 5.
The show was put on by DoverLive, a venture aimed at bringing live entertainment to the town run by district councillor John Goodwin and Gill Gough, vice-chairman of Dover Regatta Association.
Richard Digance, whose long list of TV credits include being a regular guest on the game show Countdown, delighted the audience with his humorous songs and poems. It was the first time he had performed in Dover, and during the interval he signed copies of his CDs and books.
Supporting acts were singers Louise Orfila, a pupil at St Edmund’s Catholic School, and Richard Esdale, a director of the Dover Discovery Centre-based Blackfish Academy. Richard Digance said he was very pleased to see local artists on stage, describing them as "very professional and extremely talented".
Cllr Goodwin said the evening had been a great success, and that it was hoped Richard Digance would return to Dover for another show.
He said DoverLive hopes to put on shows featuring musical groups and comedians at the town hall. The next major DoverLive project is a Dover’s Got Talent evening, in aid of the Help for Heroes charity, on March 20 next year.
