A devastated cat owner has appealed to the man who knocked down her tortoise shell to get in touch.

Donna Hockley’s one-year-old pet Dotty was ran over by a man driving a van along Stone Heap Road in East Studdal at about 11am on Sunday, March 1.

She was told by witnesses that he stopped his van and put her in the back before driving off. The family now have no idea if their beloved cat is dead or alive.

“We’re devastated we don’t know what happened to her. I don’t think he should have taken her away.”

Dotty was microchipped so Mrs Hockley called around the vets to ask whether she had been handed in for treatment. But so far her enquiries have drawn a blank.

“We’re appealing to his better personality to let us know what happened to her.”

Under pressure, the driver might have picked up Dotty for a number of reasons is she had been killed. But Mrs Hockley said pets that are killed should be left by the side of the road so owners know what has happened to them so they don’t spend days searching them in vain.

If you know what happened to Dotty, please email: brobson@thekmgroup.co.uk and we'll put you in touch with her owner.
