Dover and Deal covered in blanket of snow
15:41, 20 January 2013
Several inches of snow have fallen on the Dover and Deal area.
Main roads are passable with care, but motorists have been advised to avoid side roads and some residential streets. They are being urged not to venture out unless their journeys are vital.
There had been a covering of snow during the past few days, but snow fell continuously on Sunday morning and into the afternoon.
Children and their parents were out making the most of it, with Whitfield Hill, Kearsney Abbey and Connaught Park being among the most popular sledging venues.
A large snowman was built in River Recreation Ground and others appeared in gardens and fields.
Dover Athletic's football match was called off at Crabble on Saturday.
As temperatures drop overnight, people are being warned to be careful on what are likely to be very slippery surfaces on roads and pavements.
