Dover Athletic kept themselves in touch of a Blue Square South promotion play-off spot with a 2-0 win at home to Bishop's Stortford.

Martin Hayes' side were rarely troubled at the Crabble by a side now managed by former Tottenham and England goalkeeper Ian Walker.

AFC Wimbledon loanee Ed Harris fired Dover into the lead after 28 minutes with a bullet header inside the area. Gillingham loanee Connor Essam put in a solid first 45 minutes as he and Harris kept the visitors under control.

In a second half of little action, Essam had to be replaced before full time after picking up a knock in a clash of heads.

Lewwis Spence made the points safe with almost the last kick of the game as his left-footed effort from outside the area found the bottom corner of the net in stoppage time. Goal machine Adam Birchall turned provider on this occasion as he weaved his magic between three defenders before laying the ball off for Spence to finish.

Dover climb to sixth following the win two points behind Chelmsford City, who occupy the final play-off place, and with a game in hand.
