A mother who began fundraising to buy her son a specialised pushchair is continuing to raise funds for other disabled children who miss out on government funding.
Rosanna Joicey, 30, founded the organisation Eddy’s Sparkles, named after her son Edward, along with her friend Katy Harvey last year.
Mrs Joicey will be hosting an Easter egg hunt and a disco at Deal Welfare Club in Cowdray Square, Deal on Friday, April 18.
The Easter egg hunt is 10.30am to 1.30pm at Deal Welfare Club in Cowdray Square, Deal on Friday, April 18.
The Easter bunny will be in attendance. Tea, coffee and bacon rolls will be on sale. Tickets cost £3.50 per child.
Eddy’s Sparkles will host a disco starting at 6.30pm. Tickets cost £4, with a buffet.
A family ticket is available for two adults and two children, for both events costing £18.
The fun-packed day will raise funds for a local boy with complex special needs who requires a specialised push chair.
The two-year-old boy is the size of a four-year-old and requires a pushchair with head straps and head padding.
Mrs Joicey said: “For one reason or another the occupational therapist can’t help, that’s where we come in.
“These children are going without the stuff they need. They can’t help being poorly.”
Eddy’s Sparkles had its first fundraiser in November 2013 to buy Mrs Joicey’s son Edward a specialised pushchair which she said has changed both of their lives.
Edward was born 12 weeks early, with lots of complications which left him having poor swallow co-ordination skills.
He is now able to sleep in his pushchair which supports and feeds him, providing him with the energy to have time off of his machinery.
Mrs Joicey, 30, said: “It’s enabled him to have safe feeding at night time.
“And for us to have three hours off the machine so he can go to nursery.
“He’s able to run around with the other children and go on the swings and climbing frames.”
