A car’s engine burst into flames as its owner was on his way to collect a new vehicle in Sandwich on Tuesday.
Firefighters were called to the Sandwich bypass at noon to put out the flames and to clean up an oil leak.
An engine malfunction is said to be the cause.
Firefighter Craig Sheridan said the crew was at the scene, near Discovery Park, for 40 minutes.
He said the man was on his way to Co-part in Ramsgate Road, a car reclamation yard.
No one was injured.
