The Factory Shop in Deal has reduced its England flags from £1 to 25 pence following the country’s World Cup defeat.

After losing two games and drawing one, England finished bottom of Group D and are coming home.

They lost to Italy and Uruguay in their opening two fixtures but were spared the ultimate humiliation by drawing 0-0 with Costa Rica, winners of Group D, to gain one point.

It is the first time they have been knocked out in the group stages since 1958 and the first time they have been eliminated after just two matches.

A Factory Shop employee said: “We’ve got an excessive amount of stock and we need to get it shifted.

“All the England stuff has been reduced to 25p - the St George’s flags, bunting, face paint, four piece paper plate settings of four cups, four napkins and four plates.”

If the merchandise does not sell, the shop will store it for future use.
