An artisan market was in full festive spirit in aid of the RNLI last weekend.

The weekend kicked off at the Village Community Market in Deal last Friday with a visit from Sandown School Choir whose members sung traditional and modern hymns and festive songs.

Later in the day, live acoustic music was provided by Lewis and Callum, a duo who joined in with traders for national Christmas Jumper Day.

Saturday saw the RNLI take the trading wheel, selling festive goodies to help raise funds for the Walmer branch of the sea rescue charity.

Jules Bonnar, RNLI volunteer shop manager, drew a raffle at 3pm made up of prizes that had been donated by the market's stall holders.

The efforts culminated in a total £131 raised for the sea rescue charity.

The market, in Sondes Road, opened earlier this year and trader Jo Holmes of Take a Seat! Upholstery reimagined! says it has become a "real destination place for local people and weekend visitors".

Stall holders are local makers, artists or artisans.

The market is open this Friday from 10am to 4pm and Saturday 9am to 5pm.
