Fierce winds and rain batter parts of Kent

The Port of Dover was closed for most of today as high winds battered the coast.
A message on the port's website at 4.25pm today said the port had re-opened, but all sailings were subject to delay, as winds were gusting at 48 knots.
Sea conditions in the Channel were said to be rough.
