Seven girls, including a 14-year-old Kent schoolgirl, have successfully completed a two-way relay swim of the Channel.

They came ashore just after 2am this morning, some 23 hours 19 minutes after they set off from Dover.

Among them was Tillie Wood, a year nine pupil at Tunbridge Wells Girls Grammar School. Tillie trains seven times a week, before and after school, but had no previous experience of open water sea swimming.

The other members of the Channel relay team were sisters Hannah and Rebecca Tunstall, Mandy and Rebecca Johnson, Kirsty Johnson and Carolyn Guildford.

They were raising money for two charities, the Hope Foundation and Malaria No More.

Michelle Lefton, 23, from Windermere, completed a solo Channel swim on Saturday, in 17 hours 25 minutes.
