A Friends of Sampson Court group could be set up next week to bring together all the protestors fighting the proposal to close the care home in Mongeham Road, Deal.

Dave and Carole Hubble, of Lower Mill Lane, Deal, both have mothers who suffer from dementia, aged 91 and 95, who have respite care at the county council-run complex.

Mrs Hubble said: "The whole of Deal is sympathetic to the need to keep the care home open and what happens if Sampson Court closes is quite frightening.

"It has good staff and is a special place for those suffering from dementia, which not all care homes are."

With two petitions already launched to fight the closure proposals, Mr and Mrs Hubble met two other people with parents in or using the home.

They are convinced that a group should be formed to co-ordinate actions and are proposing a meeting at Sampson Court on Thursday, August 19, at 7pm.
The aim of the group will be to find positive arguments to negate the KCC's reasons for the closure, to enlist help from any quarter possible to aid the campaign, to keep the affair fully in the public eye and to raise the maximum possible objections to the proposal from local people.
