An appeal has been made for donations to help pay the £1,450 vet bill for an unwell 14-week-old rescue puppy.

4Paws&More Rescue is a not-for-profit organisation based in Sutton which relies on the help of volunteers to foster dogs in their homes.

It is financed mainly by fund-raising, and has very few cash reserves to rely on in times of crisis.

Organiser Stefi Henry said the lurcher pup, called KC, came into her care in November when he had been rescued from someone claiming to be a breeder.

He had a broken leg which had been caused when his mother sat on him, but when he was taken to the vet, it was discovered his leg was broken in more than one place and he would have to have a series of urgent operations which could not be delayed.

Stefi said: “I need a Christmas miracle to pay the bill by the end of December.

“This poor little pup was in a very sorry state with more than one break to his leg.

“We had to go ahead with his operations because it was urgent and he could not be left as he was, even though we didn’t have the money to pay for it."

KC’s final operation was performed on Monday and the request for financial help is also backed up with an appeal for a permanent home or a suitable foster home to recuperate.

Anyone taking on KC will have all his treatment costs covered by 4Paws&More Rescue until he is fit from these operations but they must be within driving distance of their vets at Herne Bay.
