High hopes for Deal as MP meets Miinister
09:22, 11 March 2010
Hopes are running high in the campaign to improve train services from Deal after a meeting in Westminster.
Dover MP Gwyn Prosser and Trains4Deal group member Ian Killbery met Rail Minister Chris Mole for discussions – and the outcome looks good.
Mr Prosser said: "Ian and I came away from the meeting with a clear impression that the Minister wanted Deal to have its high-speed trains.
"This is as long as there is sufficient evidence of demand and provided Southeastern can carry out the necessary line and platform enhancements within a reasonable cost."
Mr Prosser described the meeting as "very positive" and said the minister was well briefed about the campaign.
He added: "We tabled a well- argued set of proposals which would provide high-speed train stops at Deal and provide better domestic services to London.
