Homes could be built on athletic ground
09:28, 02 December 2010
Parish councillors are objecting to plans by Dover District Council to include the whole of Crabble Athletic Ground as a possible future site for housing.
Although the athletic ground and Gorse Hill, immediately behind it, are outside River Parish, the councillors have said they are very concerned about the proposals.
The Crabble Athletic Ground site could provide up to 176 homes and the lower part of Gorse Hill another 155.
It is one of 100 possible sites in the district which are subject to a consultation.
Parish council chairman Derek Leach said the council had a number of objections to the site being considered, including the loss of a very attractive green open space amenity and sports ground, and the effect of the extra traffic.
