Detached home completely destroyed in fire off the A258 Sandwich Road in Sholden, near Deal

A detached house has been completely gutted by a fire which threatened to spread to nearby crop fields.

At the height of the blaze four fire engines were sent to a detached property alight off the A258 Sandwich Road in Sholden, near Deal.

Firefighters stopped the blaze from reaching crops but sadly the house was completely destroyed in the blaze.

Upon arrival shortly after 2am crews found a well-established fire which had spread to the roof. Police and ambulance crews also attended.

Crews in breathing apparatus set about tackling the flames with main jets. Police and ambulance crews also attended.

Firefighters were able to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby standing crops, however the property was completely destroyed by the fire.

The incident was declared over as of 5.34am.

There are no reports of any injuries and the cause of the fire is currently not known.

During the incident the A258 Sandwich Road was closed both ways from Betteshanger Road to Sholden New Road.

Traffic was affected heading between Sandwich and the centre of Deal.
