Dover District Lotto forecast to give £40,000 to 95 good causes across district

More than 95 local causes throughout the Dover district will benefit from the Dover District Lotto.

Since its launch three months ago, more than 17,000 tickets have been sold and £40,000 is forecast to go to good causes in the first year.

Among them are Cherished Gowns UK, Sandwich in Bloom, Deal Walmer & Kingsdown Amateur Rowing Club, and the 1st Eythorne Rainbows.

Dover Sharks Rugby Football Club's development manager Dave Allen said: “We’ve certainly enjoyed being part of the Dover District Lotto and we’re definitely reaping the benefits.

"Thanks to our lottery supporters we’ve already raised over £500 that will help the club to develop our community rugby activities over the next 12 months.”

Hougham Village Hall Trust will get over £1,400 to maintain the hall and expand the range of activities available.

DDC portfolio holder for community services Cllr MJ Holloway said: “With 60p in the £1 going direct to good causes, it’s providing a regular income stream for them that’s making a real difference.”
