The Diamond Jubilee souvenir brochure which features articles about the history of Dover during the Queen’s reign and connections with the Cinque Ports has been launched this week.

There are also items about contributors to this year’s military tattoo and a foreword by the Patron, Admiral the Lord Boyce, Constable of Dover Castle and Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports.

“The brochure is designed to be a permanent souvenir of Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee and of the significant – and sometimes unmarked – contribution to our well-being made by our brave and outstandingly professional armed force, as well as providing an attractive record of local endeavour,” said press and public relations officer Don Soppitt.

It has been printed by Dover firm Buckland Media which was also connected prominently with the Queen’s Silver Jubilee celebrations in Dover.
Tickets

Other local firms are giving employees tickets to the tattoo to mark the jubilee and local authorities and the Ministry of Defence have given financial and logistical support.

If all the tickets for the tattoo are sold, the organisers say they will be able to make significant donations to local and services charities and to host special events in future years to continue their efforts to boost local morale and tourism in the Kent.

Copies of the souvenir brochure, which cost £5, are on sale at the 2012 Dover Tattoo office, 23 Worthington Street, Dover, and various other outlets including the Mercury office at 13 Queen Street, Deal.

Tickets for the tattoo are available via the tattoo website or from the office, phone 01304 229111
