Breakthrough Breast Cancer ambassador Kerry Rubins has persuaded retired band the Counterfeit Notes to reunite for one night only, to help her celebrate raising £100,000 for charity.

The band who retired in November 2013 will headline Kerry’s 100k Legacy Party at the Astor Theatre, Deal, on Friday, February 13. Everyone who has helped her raise the money is invited.

The community party will start at 8pm, with local band Engram taking to the stage first followed by The Alloys at 8.45pm. The Counterfeit Notes will play from 9.45pm until 11pm.

Counterfeit Notes singer Alan Faulkner said: “Kerry has given so much of her time and effort for this fantastic cause and as a band she supported us at our final gig in 2013 by raising money and promoting it on our behalf.

“We felt that coming back for one more night was the right thing to do in celebration of a fantastic lady with a big heart.”

The party is also in memory of Kerry’s friend Julie Mortimer, who died from breast cancer in December 2010.

Kerry said: “I’m so excited to have the Counterfeit Notes back for one night only plus two other fantastic bands. I just want it to be really special and for everyone to have a fantastic time, to celebrate reaching £100k and to continue Julie’s legacy.”

Dan Sinclair, of Handy Dan, has sponsored the event but Kerry will be funding the party herself with performers and security staff, Ricky Baker and Cofie Behan, giving their time for free.

James Tillitt, of the Astor, has discounted the hire of the venue and Balloonarama will be providing the decorations and balloons.

Kerry said: “This is not a fundraiser, it’s a thank-you party from me to the community for all of their support.

“It’s for anyone who’s ever contributed to reaching this target, even if you have just put a pound in one of my buckets, you are more than welcome.”

She added: “People have been wanting to donate so there will be donation buckets on the night which will go towards a community bench on the sea front, hopefully near Walmer Castle which is where we begin our annual Crocus and Stepping Out walks.”

There will be a disco until late. DJ Adam White will feature along with Invicta Sounds, who have announced Breakthrough as one of their charities of the year. Guests are encouraged to wear pink.

Kerry has thanked The Whitehouse salon in Victoria Road, Deal, for a donation of £100 to Breakthrough Breast Cancer from its Christmas raffle. Ema Parker, from Deal, won the raffle and will receive a beauty or hair treatment every month for a year.

Debbie Brock, of Paydens Pharmacy in Deal, raised £835.71 after wearing fancy dress to work throughout December and running a raffle. She thanks The Hole in the Roof, Love Drinks and the Duke William in Ickham for their support.
