Poet Nick Matthews is continuing to spread the love in Sandwich by donating £500 to Age Concern.
Last week, Kent Online's sister paper The Mercury told readers how the 65-year-old was so grateful to Nationwide for their help and support that he was inspired to write them a poem.
In return, the building society gave the New Romney Place resident £500 which he has donated to the Cattle Market centre.
Mr Matthews, a retired teacher who has little use of his hands and arms due to Post Polio Syndrome, said: “I feel charity connects with the sentiment of the poem.
“I chose Age Concern in Sandwich because there are so many helpers even some of my ex-pupils and they help older people to enjoy life, like Nationwide.
“They trim my finger nails for me!”
Age Concern is open to anyone over 50 and helped with a variety of things including meals, benefits help and even hair cutting.
Chief officer of operations Jane Goring said: “We’d like to say a big thank you to Nick for thinking of us.
“His kind donation will help us to refurbish our TV lounge to make it more multi-purpose.”
