Labour councillor David Wood wins Sandwich by-election

Labour has won the seat at the Sandwich by-election over UKIP and Conservatives.
Cllr David Wood won the election for Sandwich South Ward and is the first Labour councillor representing the town for more than a decade.
Mr Wood gained 140 votes beating UKIP Brian Rees with 113 votes and Conservative Christopher Trim with 104 votes.
The election was held yesterday and the winner was announced last night.
The vacant seat was due to Cllr Simon Leith’s retirement.
