Dover
student Lauren Sadler has been voted third in the Star In A
Bra competition.

Lauren, 18, who is a former Dover
Grammar School pupil, is currently studying geography at Durham
university.

She was among 30 girls picked to
take part in the first public vote, and then found herself in the
top 10 for the second round of voting.

When the result was announced on
Thursday, June 17, Lauren was in third place, behind winner Laura
Ann Smith from Bonnybridge and Anna Broadley, from Chislehurst, who
was second.

The competition was designed to
promote naturally curvy women and give more shapely girls a chance
to show the world just how good they look in lingerie.

Despite the fact she had no
previous modelling experience, Lauren said she had wanted to take
part in the competition last year, but wasn’t old enough.

Now a dress size 10 and bra size
30G, she said: “I think the competition gives out such a good
message because you see so many skinny models around, or girls with
fake boobs modelling underwear and I just think it’s good to show
girls that you don’t have to be either to be a model.

“It used to really depress me
buying bras. I could find ones that would fit but they’d often be
really unattractive, in horrible colours or with thick straps, and
really, you just want to feel attractive when it comes to
underwear.”

Lauren said it was overwhelming
when she made it through to the top 10.

“I didn’t even expect to get into
the top 30 so it’s really lovely to know I’ve got lots of support
from the public. Everyone has been really good about it. My parents
have been really supportive and my friends are so excited.

All the contestants were given a
make-over and photoshoot before their photos were put on the
Brastop website for the second round of voting.

“I think girls will be able to
relate to me because I’m just a normal girl at the end of the day,
and I can show women everywhere that you don’t have to be overly
confident to do this,” she said.
