Five big-hearted staff members at the Sandwich Co-op are risking a moment of pain next week to raise cash to provide Christmas meals for elderly people in the town.

At the Moat Sole supermarket at 11am on Saturday, November 2, team managers Andrew Cannon and James Bridger are having a leg wax with fellow employees Connor Janes, Clive Peirce and Lee Fairclough.

Sponsor forms are available now in store and customers are invited to watch the waxing session and donate cash too.

Mr Bridger said the staff wanted to raise cash to provide Christmas meals for people who attend The Centre, formerly known as Age Concern, at Sneller House, Cattle Market, which is close to the store.

He said: “Please sponsor us or come and see the action on the day. The Co-op’s charity of the year nationally is Carers Trust and as The Centre is local to us and community based we wanted to help.”
