Dover Lifeguards were the overall winners of an international swimming competition at the weekend.
Dressing up as pirates for their ferry crossing to compete on the continent, they clearly had a haul of medal booty in mind and they weren’t to be denied.
The squad swam to overall victory in the Challenge International des Six Bourgeois at Calais, seeing off competition from other clubs from England, France, Belgium and Holland.
Whilst the majority of the 58-strong group of lifeguards who made the trip had youth on their side, one of the biggest cheers of the day went up for the club’s Scott Walker who won the Masters' race.
