An unpaid littering fine has lead a Deal resident to pay an extra £370 in costs.

Alan Cullen, of St Nicholas Close, Deal, was spotted by a Dover Distict Council parking officer depositing a Penalty Charge notice on the ground on July 5 last year in Dover’s Castle Street.

Cullen then drove off without it.

This resulted in a fine of £75 for littering, but it was when no payment was received that Cullen was summonsed to attend Canterbury Magistrates Court last Tuesday.

On failing to attend, the Deal man now has to pay a £200 fine, a £20 victim surcharge and costs of £150.
