Lorry smashes into metal girder in Coombe Valley Road Dover causing traffic delays

This lorry was badly damaged after it hit a girder close to a railway bridge this afternoon.

Police were called to Coombe Valley Road in Dover, after the crash.

Officers got to the scene at 3pm and closed the road until it was declared safe. No-one was reported injured.

A Kent Police spokeswoman said: "The road was reopened at 3.46pm.

"Network Rail are on scene. It appears the lorry struck a protective metal girder and not the bridge itself."
