Police close road and arrest Thanet man on suspicion of dangerous driving after woman hit by car on A258 at Worth, near Deal

A man arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a woman was hit by a car has been released on bail.

The incident happened on the north-bound side of the A258 Deal to Sandwich Road at Worth yesterday morning.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene just before 5am.

Officers closed the A258 Sandwich Road between Sholden and Worth for seven hours while they investigated.

The woman, aged in her 40s, was taken to a London hospital for treatment for serious injuries.

She remains there today, and her condition is still described as "critical but stable".

A 36-year-old man from Thanet was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

He was questioned before being released on bail today until December 15.
