A man is in a critical condition in hospital after collapsing in toilets in Dover.

It happened just before noon on Monday when the 41-year-old was found in a cubicle at the Stembrook toilets.

Passers-by helped administer first aid and tried to revive him until paramedics arrived and he was then taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.

Police were also called and sealed the area off for further investigations.

It happened at a time when there has been increasing concern about the use of the public toilets in the town by drug addicts and dealers.

The Mercury has been highlighting the situation, including the use of baby changing rooms for drug taking.

Used needles and other drugs paraphernalia are often left in the toilets.

There have also been a number of deaths at the Stembrook and Ladywell toilets.
