The body of an elderly man has been recovered by Dover Lifeboat from rocks between Dover and Folkestone.
The crew was called out on Monday to help the police and Coastguard recover the body below Copt Point.
Officers on the scene found the ground was too difficult to safely extract the man’s body and requested assistance from the RNLI.
Dover Lifeboat was launched just before 1am, and three crew members used the inflatable Y boat to go into the shore at a safe point.
The man’s body was transferred on board the all-weather lifeboat and taken back to Dover where undertakers and the Coroner’s officer were waiting.
Lifeboat coxswain Stuart Richardson said: "These services are always sad for everyone involved. Our thoughts are always for the relatives left behind."
