Bereaved daughter Lisa Rogers gets recognised from the MOD for campaign for danger signs after death of Nicholas Warren at Kingsdown Rifle Range

A daughter's quest to secure better warning signs close to where her dad died has been successful.
On what would have been the 60th birthday of the late Nick Warren, Lisa Rogers learned that site owners the Ministry of Defence now plan to provide new signs.
Mr Warren was hailed a hero after his death in November 2015.
He had been walking his Labrador puppy, Maisy at Kingsdown Rifle Range adjacent to the shoreline, when she jumped over the broken sea wall into the water.
The 57-year-old roofer plunged into the sea but neither were able to climb out.
The details of his death were revealed at a five-day inquest in October where a verdict of misadventure was given.
And although it was ruled that little more could have been done by the emergency services, Mrs Rogers, 34, was compelled to highlight the dangers of the area.
At a visit to the site with our reporter she announced her plans to push for safety signs there and MP Charlie Elphicke backed the issue.
He wrote to the MOD, and the minister responsible for Defence Estate, the Rt Home Tobias Ellwood MP sent his condolences on behalf of the MOD, adding: “I must assure you (Ms Rogers) that the MOD places great emphasis on the safety of the public and military personnel.
“The Department is currently looking to provide new signs at the Range to better advise members of the public of the dangers, and to indicate that the site is owned by the MOD and should not be accessed.
“I hope this goes some way to re-assure your constituent that the Department is raking the necessary steps to ensure safety measures are in place.”
Ms Rogers, a commercial broker at Pharos Insurance Brokers, said: “It’s fantastic news.
“I received it on what would have been my dad’s 60th birthday.
“I want the area to be as safe as possible for both local people and visitors.
“The fact they’re considering signs is great news but I just hope they’ll install the signs, where many consider to be a very dangerous site.
“I am very grateful to everyone for the outcome so far. I just hope it’s pushed through to the end to help save other lives in the future.”
