Motorcyclist dies in crash in Ripple near Deal

A motorcyclist has died following a crash in a village lane.

The incident involving an orange Yamaha and a red Peugeot 106 car happened in Sutton Lane, Ripple near Deal .

The motorcyclist, a man in his 70s, had been travelling towards the crossroads with Mongeham Road at about at 12.45pm yesterday, when his bike collided with the car. He died at the scene.

The car was travelling from the direction of Mongeham Road and had just turned right into Sutton Lane.

Police have since arrested and bailed a 23-year-old man from Deal while they continue with their inquiries.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or either vehicles before the incident.

They are also appealing for dashcam footage.

The crash warranted the assistance of an air ambulance and the road remained shut past 7pm.
