The mother of a missing man says she feels hopeless and is renewing her appeal for information 50 days on from his disappearance.

Alex Holland, a separated father-of-two, vanished from his home in Delane Road in Deal on November 28, 2021.

Days later, his hire car was found abandoned - with his mobile phone inside - in Jubilee Road, Worth.

Despite searches at the time and a more recent four-day search involving dogs and Kent Search and Rescue conducted in the first week of January, he remains missing without trace.

Now, 50 days on, his mum Rachel Holland is appealing for anyone with information as to where her son could be to speak out - even if it's anonymously.

She said: "Things just aren't the same without him around. I feel like a part of me is missing.

"Each day I find my hope is fading. Could he still be alive? I so want him to be.

"As a family, we feel hopeless. We want to do something but what can we do?

"He's on my mind all of the time.

"All I can think of is getting him back. It just never goes away."

She continued: "Two weeks was bad enough but we're now seven weeks on. It's unbearable.

"If anyone knows anything, please tell the police. They can do it anonymously."

Alex, 27, was living back home with his parents after being separated from his wife.

It was on the night of November 28 he popped his head around his parents' bedroom door to ask his dad, Mark Holland, to wake him up in the morning because he had work and the dentist.

He then went outside for a cigarette.

An hour later Mrs Holland, saw that he wasn't in bed but assumed he'd decided to go out.

It wasn't until teatime the next day after repeated unsuccessful attempts to reach him via his mobile, she reported him missing to the police.

The care assistant who has two other grown-up children says she has "no enthusiasm to do anything" and is now relying on sleeping pills to switch off at night.

She reluctantly goes out as she feels closer to her son at home, and wants to be there in case he returns.

She contacts police every day for updates but says there has been no sightings or new leads.

She candidly explained that police have discussed three options with her family.

The first is that Alex has killed himself, the second that he has gone off to start a new life and the third, that he could have been taken.

She told KentOnline: "I honestly don't believe he's taken his life. If he had, I think he would have been found by now.

"I'd like to think if he's gone away to try and get his head together he would at least phone me, to give me peace of mind.

"This is just not like Alex at all.

"I do send messages to his private messenger on Facebook, should he be able to get online, to say that we love him and miss him and if there's any issue, we can help.

"He's missed Christmas with his little girls and Saturday was my birthday. He missed that too."

The Arsenal fan, who loves fishing, would use Facebook, Snapchat and TikTok regularly, but has not been active on these sites since.

He's described as a "devoted dad" to his daughters, aged eight and four.

She added: "It's like he's vanished off the face of the earth.

"It's a mystery."

Alex is 6ft, with blue eyes and has a small tattoo of the name Roxy on his left hand and a chipped front tooth.

His family have set up a Facebook page called Help find Alex Holland and have thanked people for their help and support so far.

Detective Inspector Louise Murphy said: "It has now been more than 50 days since Alex went missing but we are continuing our enquiries to find him.

"My team is still very keen to hear from anyone who knows of Alex's whereabouts, or has seen him since he was reported missing."
