A huge chunk of a sunken boat has washed up on the Kent coast - puzzling passing beach-goers.
The shipwreck was first spotted adrift near on Thursday, before appearing on the shore at Deal the following day.
The origin of the vessel is currently unknown, but the Coastguard has been made aware and has taped off the wreck.
Just to the right of Deal’s pier, the rounded wooden structure immediately attracted attention from locals.
One resident shared a picture of the debris on social media, prompting theories on the object's source.
Some suggest it may have been part of the cabin cruiser that broke apart on the rocks and sank near Broadstairs in December.
Others believe the wreckage must have come from a more recent incident due to the condition of the hulk’s wood.
One user posted: “Glad I didn’t bump into that whilst swimming.”
While someone else commented: “Now that’s some ambitious fly-tipping.”
The large scuffed hull is still sitting on the beach opposite Deal’s Timeball Tower.
This is despite it being reported to the council for removal.
A spokesman from the Coastguard said: “HM Coastguard responded to reports of part of a boat washed up on Deal beach on Friday, May 5.
“The Coastguard Rescue Team from Deal was alerted to the debris at about 10.20am, and a coastline search was carried out.
“There was no evidence of anyone in distress and Dover District Council was informed of the debris for collection.”
