Mystery over town clerks resignation
10:09, 03 October 2013
Deal town clerk Lin Dykes has handed in her notice and left the town council after four years in the post.
The reason for her resignation on Tuesday, September 17, has not been made public.
She is now on annual leave to take her up to her leaving date.
An extraordinary meeting was called for Monday, September 23, which had to be held in private because councillors were discussing employment issues.
It is believed the town council urged her to reconsider her resignation.
She gave them her answer on Monday, and decided to take annual leave that was due to her.
Deputy town clerk Lorna Crow said: “We are not able to comment why she left at this stage.”
There will be a special meeting to discuss her resignation tomorrow (Friday).
Mrs Crow added: “We will decide then what we will be releasing to the press.”
