Deal Maritime & Local History Museum marks centenary of east Kent Road Car Company at exhibition
00:01, 07 August 2016
The latest exhibition at Deal Maritime & Local History Museum is a must for bus enthusiasts.
It marks the centenary of the East Kent Road Car Company, which had a base in Deal’s Albert Road.
Mercury contributor Colin Varrall co-ordinated the show thanks to the expertise and memorabilia collection of former employee Alwyn Conway.
Among the exhibits is an old ticket machine, a wooden encased clock, used as a time keeper to keep the service running punctually and there are also certificates of long service for former employees.
The exhibition opened on Tuesday and can be seen until the end of the month at Deal Maritime & Local History Museum, St George’s Road, Deal.
Opening times are: Tuesday to Saturday 11am to 4.30pm and Sundays noon-4pm.
Admission is £3 adults, £2 concessions and children and a family ticket is £9.
