The former M&S in Deal will be empty no more.
Poundland has confirmed its plan to move into the vacant unit in the High Street.
It will see the value chain relocate from its current store at number 15, to the building at number 41.
Renovation works are currently ongoing and the new shop should open in early December.
A spokesman for Poundland said: "Deal is a great town for us and we're looking to move into larger premises on the High Street.
"We’re putting together a store Deal can be proud of - with more of what customers need and at the amazing value we’re famous for.
"As soon as we've got more details to share, we'll be in touch."
M&S left Deal in April 2019 after more than 80 years in the town as part of the brand's downsizing plans.
At the time a petition opposing its closure gained thousands of signatures.
The store has been empty ever since.
Rumours surfaced about Poundland moving into the unit earlier this year when retail and leisure property agents SmithPrice RRG published a street plan pinpointing the potential move for the discount chain.
Neighbouring M&Co, in 43-45 High Street, will be staying put for now, a spokesman for the company confirmed, and agreed a new 'flexible' lease with SmithPrice in June 2021.
It is not yet known what, if anything, will fill Poundland's current unit after it moves.
But chairman of the Deal and Walmer Chamber of Trade said it will work to fill the space.
Peter Jull said: "The Chamber is and will be pro-actively working with the vendors and Dover District Council's inward investment manager to find a suitable use for any empty town centre property."
