No date for towers to go

No date has yet been chosen for the demolition of the iconic Richborough Cooling towers and chimney.
The owners of the former power station were granted permission by Thanet District Council on January 18 to remove the structures.

They have been a fixture of the east Kent skyline for over 50 years, inspiring many photographers to capture the industrial grey brick buildings against stunning sunsets, or giving walkers a landmark for directions.
This picture (above) by reader Peter Winkworth, is how many will remember the "three sisters," or the "salt and pepper pots."
"They will go down separately," said Chris Parr, on behalf of DDS, the contractors in charge of the job.
"Within 60 seconds of the button being pressed, they will all be on the floor," he added.
The demolition is expected to take place early one Sunday morning in late February or early March.
