Workout for free at Total Fitness gym in Mill Hill, Deal
00:04, 07 January 2016
A new gym and fitness studio has opened in Deal offering its services free of charge for the first week.
The doors opened at Total Fitness in Mill Hill at 6am on Monday, following a three-month renovation programme which saw local contractors remove about 300 tonnes of rubble and soil by hand.
Equal partners Anthony and Rachael Reid have created the hub at a cost of £160,000 for their fitness instructor and personal trainer daughter Samantha, 20, to manage.
Leaving no stone unturned, they have ensured the centre is equipped with free Wi-fi, USB plug sockets, a quadraphonic music system fitted by Mark 1 Music, smart spin bikes which connect to your device via bluetooth and a scan-in entry system.
Mr Reid, who also owns Total Motor Care in Sandwich, said: “Deal has not had a facility with dance classes and a gym in the same venue, or somewhere to sit and have a good smoothie after your workout.
“Because I couldn’t find a facility like that, I’ve created one.
“The idea was to have it all under one roof.”
The gym features a weights section, cardio area, vibration plate, rowing machines and seven flat screen TVs.
Below is an aerobic studio for group exercise where fully licensed Les Mills workouts will be led.
The family have recruited six self-employed instructors who together will run 30 classes a week, as well as fixed staff including full-time gym instructor Shane Arniszewski.
Mr Reid said: “We’d like people to try it. If it’s for them then they can come and sign up.
“There are no contracts or cancellation fees. People can pay by the day, week, month or even just buy a weekend pass.
“We’re really trying to cater for the customer. We want it to be enjoyable. Fitness can be fun and Samantha is so enthusiastic about it.”
They are offering discounted memberships to students and anyone who works for the NHS, emergency services, or armed forces, if they sign up by the end of January.
Mr Reid said: “This is just it in its infancy. There is potential to build another fitness level above for boxing and cross fit. We are also looking to have massage and a steam room.”
People can book any class or use the gym for free until this Sunday. Free protein samples and shakes will also be available until then.
Total Fitness is open from 6am until 10pm during the week and 9am until 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
Book online at https://clients.mindbodyonline.com/launch or using their app, search ‘totalfitnessmix’ on the App Store.
