Students in Dover, Deal and Sandwich got their A-level results today with record results reported.

Chris Morgan, head teacher at Sir Roger Manwood’s School in Sandwich celebrated "excellent" set of results with the overall pass rate at 98% and 63% of all the exams taken passed at the top grades of A* A and B.

"There were many outstanding individual performances with some students gaining all their passes at the new top grade of A*," he said.

"Two students gained 5 A* passes which is outstanding," he added.

Meanwhile, some of the best results for textiles were achieved at Archer’s Court Maths and Computing College (now the Dover Christ Church Academy).

Richard Williams will be the new principal at DCCA. He said: "I spent an extremely enjoyable morning with the students as they received their results and was extremely impressed with their achievements.

"I was particularly impressed with the textiles results, 100 per cent of the students achieving A grades or better, with 80 per cent of them achieving A*.

At Dover Grammar School for Boys, 2010 was the first year the International Baccalaureate results were received.

Sally Lees, head teacher, said: "A quarter of the year group entered the International Baccalaureate Diploma and achieved an average of 413 UCAS points, equivalent to almost 3 A* A-level grades, helping gain these students places at top universities."

A-levels were also studied by many other students and Mrs Lees described their results as "outstanding."

She added: "Once again, our students have done very well and been rewarded for their efforts.

"I am particularly pleased at the success of our first International Baccalaureate Diploma cohort of students."
