A lorry has overturned at the Limekiln Street roundabout on the A20 at Dover causing delays for traffic in both directions.

The rear trailer of the double-trailer lorry, which was carrying washing machines, overturned and blocked the outside lane of both the London-bound and coast-bound carriageways.

Traffic was moving in the inside lanes, but there were "significant delays", said police.

Safe recovery of the vehicle was expected to take some time and drivers were advised to allow extra time for their journey. Where possible, motorists were also advised to use the A2 as an alternative route.

No-one was injured in the accident, but there was damage to some of the roadside furniture.
