A former nurse determined to keep clinics at Deal hospital has paid tribute to everyone who signed her petition to stop any possible cutbacks in services.
The final signature was added on Tuesday and yesterday (Wednesday) the lists were presented to Stuart Bain, chief executive of the East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust.
Campaigning pensioner June Hobbs, from Mill Hill, Deal, launched her petition in mid-October and almost 3,000 people added their names.
She said: “I was thrilled to bits when my husband Edward and I counted up the signatures and would like to give a big thank-you to everyone who signed.
“We have to fight to keep our clinics in Deal hospital and I am pleased so many people supported my petition.”
It was distributed around Sandwich by Jess Tookey, who volunteered to help after reading about Mrs Hobbs’ campaign in the Mercury.
