Police officer attacked after disturbance in Mayers Road, Walmer

A police officer was attacked after being called to a disturbance.
The force attended Mayers Road in Walmer yesterday shortly after 8.30am following an assault on a man nearby.
Police arrived at the scene and arrested a suspect concerning the incident.
But an officer was attacked during the arrest.
No serious injuries were reported.
Liam Prendergast, 31, has been charged with assault, assault on an emergency worker, a public order offence and two driving offences.
Mr Prendergast, of Mayers Road, was remanded in custody to appear before Margate Magistrates’ Court today.
