Police officers injured as they try to stop motorist

A 41-year-old Dover man is in custody after a car being followed by police officers was stopped in Folkestone this afternoon.
Concern about the driver of a Ford Ka in Folkestone Road, Dover was reported to the police at 3.40pm. The car was seen by an officer in Capel at 3.44pm and followed into Folkestone where the car was stopped by officers in Park Farm Road at 3.50pm.
Three police officers suffered whiplash injuries and three police vehicles were damaged as the car was made to stop. Two vehicles driven by members of the public were also damaged but their drivers were not injured.
The man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving whilst unfit and assaulting police officers and is in custody at Folkestone Police Station.
Park Farm Road was closed for several hours whilst investigations were carried out at the scene and the vehicles were removed.
