A former church which has since become a popular community meeting place is up for sale.
King’s Hall, Buckland Terrace, London Road, is on the market for £375,000, which the agents say is a fraction of the building’s value.
The hall has multiple licences covering a wide variety of uses including weddings, banquets, theatre, martial arts and concerts, and is fully licensed with its own bar.
Built about 1829, it still retains many of its early features. Originally a Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, it later became the headquarters for the Sea Cadets.
Current owner Brian Ward carried out a major refurbishment when he first bought the hall, and has turned it into a well-used venue. Now, for personal reasons, he has decided to sell it. Included in the asking price will be the transfer of the licences and goodwill.
The hall can accommodate 360 people and has a dance hall, stage, bar, function room, office and toilets on the ground floor with first floor balconies.
It is being marketed through Regal Estates on 01843 449999.
