A primary school teacher who became a mum during the pandemic has turned her talent to musical baby classes.

The all-singing all-dancing Moo Music sessions at Deal Welfare Club have become a weekly highlight for pre-school children and babies in the town.

They are led by new mum Sarah Hubbard, a teacher and music coordinator at Sandown Primary School, who also has experience in performing arts.

Through the use of song, actions and props, the 40 minute sessions are aimed to develop language, memory and co-ordination skills and offer new parents a chance to socialise following lockdown.

Mrs Hubbard said: "As a new mum myself, and becoming a mum during the pandemic, I couldn't wait to get out and about to classes for my little one and I to enjoy together.

“Music is very important to children’s development and sharing music is such a great way to boost confidence.

"We’ve had such a fantastic response to the sessions and it’s wonderful to see the children - and their mums and dads - having such fun."

Primary education experts have helped children’s songwriter Craig McLeish put together a repertoire of 125 songs.

Over the weeks the little ones become familiar with the music and the six farmyard characters who feature – Maggie Moo, Ollie Oink, Henry Horse, Doris Duck, Holly Hen and Barry Baa.

The sessions are held on Wednesdays.

They are Mini Moo (walking - 2 years), Baby Moo (newborn - walking) and Mixed Moo (3 - 5 years + families with different aged siblings).

There is also a Monthly Moo Doo, held one Sunday a month, to cater for working families.
