00:04, 03 September 2016
A huge raffle hosted by the Mercury could raise at least £1,000 towards Kelly Turner’s campaign for lifesaving surgery in America.
Prizes already donated by generous businesses include a £100 shopping spree at Bouverie Place shopping centre in Folkestone, a voucher for a Bombay night dinner for two at the Best Western Dover Marina Hotel and family tickets to Port Lympne and Howletts animal parks.
Deal’s beauty salons have also been very generous, with UBeauty donating a £50 voucher, a £40 full body massage voucher plus two goody bags, and Kilby Kuts offering a £20 hair and nail voucher.
Other prizes include a £30 meal voucher for Dine India in Deal, coffee vouchers for Costa and a gift set from Starbucks.
Theatre tickets to the Creative Quarter Folkestone and a pair of show tickets at the Leas Cliff Hall are also up for grabs.
The raffle will be drawn at a fundraising summer ball, organised by the Mercury and Run Ashore Roving Diners Club, at The Courtyard Oyster Bar and Restaurant in Sondes Road on Friday, September 16.
This newspaper has teamed up with the Run Ashore to host the black tie and ballgown evening and to give the 16-year-old, who needs to raise a £1 million, a chance of fighting cancer.
There will also be an auction for a ruby, mouthblown and hand spun, faceted glass bullion, worth £400. It has been donated by Linden Hall Studio. Guests will also be able to bid for a Come Dine With Me winner’s experience and an annual pass to Dover Castle.
Raffle tickets cost £1 each or £5 for a strip and are available from the Mercury office, 13 Queen Street, Deal, and the Courtyard Oyster Bar and Restaurant, Sondes Road, Deal.

Tickets for the Summer Ball for Kelly cost £20 including live music and All Around The World themed canapes.
Half of the ticket price goes to the #DoingItForKelly campaign and 100% of the raffle profits.
They are also available from the Mercury offices and the Courtyard. Alternatively book at admin@runashore.co.uk
