15:25, 16 January 2013
The refuse transfer station at Whitfield near Dover has re-opened following the earlier gas alert.
The site was closed and the area evacuated after a gas canister was put into a compactor.
A 100-metre cordon was set up around the area at Honeywood Road, and fire crews and paramedics attended at the scene.
The alarm was raised at 12.30pm and emergency services say they were concerned about a potential gas leak.
