Richborough cooling towers
14:13, 11 January 2012
Plans to demolish the chimney and cooling towers at the former Richborough power station have been set back a few weeks.
Originally scheduled for possible demolition in January, the application from new owners Richborough A will be discussed by the planning committee at Thanet District Council on Wednesday, January 18.
Fiona Runacre, of Dover District Council planning department, said "As the site mainly lies within that area, Thanet are looking after the application.
"Dover District Council is considering access matters."
If approved, demolition of the landmark, built in the late 1950s to burn Kent Coal, should take place in mid-February.
